1. Truss girder
A structure welded by steel angle or joist steel, with advantages like low cost, light self weight and good wind resistance. But because of a lot of welding points and its own defects, the truss girder has disadvantages such as large deflection, low stiffness, lower reliability and demands of frequent welding points check. So the truss girder is suitable for cranes with lower safety demands and smaller lifting capacity.
2. Box girder
The box type structure is welded by steel plates featuring high safety and high stiffness, generally it is used for gantry crane with large and super large lifting capacity. However, the box girder has defects like high cost, large self weight and poor wind resistance.
3. Honeycomb girder
It refers to isosceles triangle honeycomb girder with triangle section, honeycomb holes in inclined web plates at two sides, and chord at top and bottom part. By absorbing advantages of truss girder and box girder, it has a higher stiffness, lower deflection and higher reliability compared with truss girder. But its self weight and cost are higher than truss girder because of steel plates welding. The honeycomb girder is suitable for gantry crane with large lifting capacity and frequent operation demands.
